Mine was fucked up last night, too! Same thing: it kept getting stuck booting up because of some update crap. It took about three or four restarts, at least once in "safe" mode, before it finally fixed itself. (Thankfully, as that is pretty much the extent of my troubleshooting, though after Portus I have some idea how to remove the keyboard, should I ever dump beer on it.) I'm glad you have Mr. Dark Mod to help, and I hope yours is able to be fixed without having to reset stuff. Stupid MicroSquish.

Nope, no such luck. Am doing the factory resetting crap now. The only problem is I am not quite sure what will be on it and will have to wait until I am back in Australia to put all my shite back on.

I can feel your pain! We got a brand new Dell for Christmas and it crashed a month later and I ended up losing about a hundred pics of the girls, and all of my MP3's. They sent out a new one but that didn't replace everything that I lost. Bastard computer makers *growls*

Vista seems to be really stupid a lot of the time. I wish it was easier to get a laptop without it - at least here, it seems that getting a desktop with XP is still very easy, but the overwhelming majority of laptops come with Vista, at least if you want a decent one.

That's the problem. None of the laptops back home come with XP anymore. I stayed up until after 1 am last night, fiddling with it.

since you're staying with this laptop, get rid of Vista and use an earlier version of Windows. then turn OFF 'automatic updates' and try to use OpenOffice for word processing, etc. - i.e., avoid Microsoft stuff and use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, use Mozilla Thunderbird instead of Outlook for email (or stick to yahoo or gmail for email). backup often. and hug M/M Droxy for being there for you. *hugs*

What you just said went over my head. If I take off the Vista it will void the warrenty. The laptop was really only for over here (the US - or whilst I'm here)

Tell me about it, but it's for 3 years and the laptop is only 3 months at the oldest. I have already had to do two system recoveries and I don't even use it that much as I use my PC at home.

Well, found it in another shop. Of course, 999€ is too much. I found it for 749€. Unfortunately, it has Vista, so I'm very reluctant to buy it. Well, we'll see. I have to wait for my distance learning bill anyway.

Man that's too much. You should buy one over here as they cost $599 from Dell. Yes Vista is a PITA (pain in the ass) but at least you can turn off the updates. My laptop is up and running again. Yippee!

First flight was okay, I slept with my arms folded behind my back, lol...

Second flight, I didn't sleep at all. I finished a book, and then tried to sleep, and the last 2 hours were agony. My neck and shoulders were tense and my back was aching. I tried folding my arms behind my back again, but it didn't work.

The plane was completely full... except the seat to my left. I had an idiot on my right who was a freak. He slept the ENTIRE flight, his legs turned into my leg space... on top of my seatbelt so until landing when he woke up, I couldn't put it on during turbulance. *sighs* never mind.

My dad's an idiot who has done something to his neck, but refuses to go to the doctors,so I had to drive home, because I refused to let him drive when he couldn't turn his head to check traffic... in MK that wouldn't matter too much, but in London that's a death sentence.

I've gone shopping, filled my car with petrol, bought more hair dye. Unpacked, and gone round my parents for dinner. I really just want to go to sleep, but I'm trying to sort out the transfer... probably won't do it till tomorrow now, cause I want to go back home and be with my cats.

I had a nap after unpacking, and they were all over me.

OH, funny story... I walked into my bedroom, and the first thing I saw was a pair of handcuffs - not mine.
